Arlie Lee Helms

Arlie L. Helms, age 79 died on Friday, March 09, 2007 at Aultman Hospital in Canton,Oh. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 13, 2007, 11:00 AM at the Gresser Funeral Home, 415 N. Elm St. Orrville Oh. Pastor Bob Laughlin will be officiating. Burial will be at the Western Reserve National Cemtery in Rittman, OH. Visitation will be held on Monday March 12, 2007, 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the funeral home.

He was born January 19, 1928 at Morgantown, WV, the son of Noel and Florence (Bunner) Helms. He married Freda Boyce Helms on April 12, 1952 and she survives

Arlie served his country in the US Army in Korea from 1952 –1954 and six years in the Army Reserves. He has been a resident of the Orville area since 1955, having lived in Fairmont, WV previously. Arlie worked at the Quality Castings from 1955 to 1973, Gilbert Lumber from 1974 to 1985, as a security guard for Tele-Security from 1986 to 2000 and at the Orrville City Schools part-time from 1986 to 1998. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and being with his family and grandchildren. He was member of the Church of Christ.

He was survived by his wife Freda of Orrville, sons; Jim (Penny) Helms, Danny Helms both of Orrville, Tim (LaQuinta) Helms of Smithville, OH, and an adopted son Howard (Patty) Maag of Port Washington, OH. Daughter Joyce (Terry) Cotton of Creston, OH. Grandchildren; Nicole, Matthew, Stephanie, Sarah, Justin, Tessa, Timothy, Joshua, Amanda, La Rissa, Jacob, Doreen, Danny, Billy, Will and John. Great grandchildren; Nicholas, Noah, Taylor, Dillon, Melia, Jayla, MacKenzie and Isabell. Brothers; James (Bell) Helms of Orrville, Darrell (Dorothea) Helms of Brinkhaven, OH and Grant (Jay) Helms of Tiltonsville, OH. Sisters; Helen (Ed) Nestor of Mogantown, WV, Madaline Cerisano, Betty Metz, all of Fairmont, WV and Lucille Wilson of Barracksville, WV.

Arlie was preceded by his parents, a great grandchild, brothers; Sylvester, Robert, Cecil, Frank, Fred, an infant brother and a sister Beulah Shackleford.
