About Arnold L. Jamtgaard
Find A Grave Memorial He appeared on the census of 1905 in the household of Louis O. Jamtgaard at Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa; household also includes Anna Ronning. Arnold Jamtgaard was the son of Louis O. Jamtgaard and Anna A. Solem. Arnold's mother Anne Solem Jamtgaard died a short while after Arnold's birth and Arnold was sent to live with his Aunt Lava Jamtgaard Asbjeld and was cared for by Lava and her children, Johanna and Pete. Johanna and Pete lived thier entire life together, neither of them ever taking a spouse. Pete lived with Arnold after Johanna died. Meanwhile the older children stayed at their home in Sioux City, Iowa with Sophie, then 14,doing most of the child raising. Lars was often gone for long periods of time and the children had a good sized garden. Olaf, the young man of the family, at age 7 worked for neighboring farmers and earned cash for them to spend on those goods they couldn't raise. The good news is that they never forgot their little brother, away with relatives. Wherever he lived the sisters and brothers sent him a postcard regularly.
