Arnold M. Lyon went to join his heavenly father Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Prestige Care in Clarkston.
He was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Moscow, to Arnold and Margaret Lyon. They moved to Clarkston when he was about 3 years old and stayed here the rest of his life. After graduating from Clarkston High School in 1947, he went to work in the woods and married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Claire Stewart. Together they had three children. They later divorced.
Arnie went to work for Golden Grain Dairy and worked there for 35 years. After retiring from the dairy, he became the administrator for the Moose Lodge for three years. He then spent seven years at Schurman's Hardware in the sporting goods department, until he retired at the age of 65.
Our Dad was an avid outdoorsman. Through rock hunting, fishing, hunting and camping, he taught us the joy and beauty of God's country. He was a gregarious and outgoing man who valued his many friends tremendously, many of whom he knew from being a longtime member of the Clarkston Methodist Church. During his lifetime, Dad had numerous hobbies. He dabbled in dowsing, enjoyed using his ham radios to converse with people from all over the world, and buying and selling antiques.
Arnold is survived by his children, Steve Hamm of Coeur d'Alene, Kathy Lyon of Lewiston and Kerry Lyon of Clarkston. He also leaves behind eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Special thanks to the special staff at Evergreen Estates and Prestige Care who helped Dad get through the last four difficult years it took to get to his final resting place in heaven. Without your love and compassion his road would have been much more difficult.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Merchant Funeral Home in Clarkston. Everyone is invited to wear a Hawaiian shirt in honor of Dad. He loved his Hawaiian shirts!
