About Artemesia Marriott
Daughter of Martin Hardin and Rosannah Fisher, Artimecia was the wife of Ephraim Smith Mariott; whom she married 03 Oct 1838 in Hardin County.
They had nine children: James, Martin Hardin, Rosannah, Ephraim S. Jr., Sarah, Stephen, William Hardin, John Belt, Sophia Adaline, and Benjamin J. Fisher Marriott.
Her sons Martin and William became lawyers and practiced in Elizabethtown. Martin was elected to the State Legislature and died in office in March, 1878.

Mrs. Artemecia Marriott died at the age of 90 years yesterday at Nolin. She was said to be the oldest Methodist in the State. Died of pneumonia. Born at the home of her parents, Martin and Rosa Fischer Hardin, near Star Mills. Lived at Star Mills until about 1858, when she and her husband moved to Nolin and purchased the old Marriott place. Her husband was killed in an accident in the 70's. Her mother was buried on her 95th birthday and she had 2 sisters to reach 90 years and still another to attain the age of 89 years. She was the last of the family of 6 sisters and 3 brothers. She was the mother of 10 children, only 2 of them survive her. --Hardin County Newspaper Abstracts, 1911l; compiled by Carolyn Wimp.
