Article in McKinney Daily Courier, dated 26 June 1903... W. E. Marriott, age 85, ex-Confederated soldier died. He was born in Hardin County, Kentucky. He came to Texas in January 1854 settling in Dallas County until 1870 when he came to Collin County and improved a farm. He was a devout member of the Catholic Church.
Inscription: Father He followed virtue as his truest guide Listed as Christian - as a Christian died
Son of James and Sophia (Duvall) Marriott. Inscription:
'Honesty was the motto of his life.'
