About Artemio Mate
Artemio Mate was a Filipino civil engineer and politician. He was first elected councilor of Tacloban, Leyte in 1947, and was elected vice mayor in 1951 and in 1955 until he began serving as mayor on January 27, 1958, that lasted until December 30, 1965. He represented the first district of Leyte at the House of Representatives of the Philippines from December 30, 1965 to September 23, 1972. He later represented Region VIII at the Interim Batasang Pambansa from June 12, 1978 to June 5, 1984. Lastly, he represented Leyte at the Regular Batasang Pambansa from June 30, 1984 to March 25, 1986.
