Arthur Edward Blocher, 87, of Modesto died of natural causes Monday at Mount Diablo Hospital, Concord. Mr. Blocher of a native of Oroville, Wash. He had lived in Modesto since 1963 and previously lived in Waterford seven years. He had worked in spices for Campbell Soup Co. and previously was a dairyman in Oakdale. He was a member of La Loma Grace Brethern Church. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Cardoza Blocher of Modesto; children, Alan A. Blocher of Truckee and Irene Blocher of Pleasant Hill; brother, Earl Blocher of Lynn, Ind.; sisters, Vera Smith of Elk Grove, Hazel Decker of Altoona, Iowa, Anna Kinser of Waterford and Alice French of Modesto; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie Blocher; and one brother. A funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel. Burial at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Remembrances may be made to Grace Brethren Foreign Missions, P.O. Box 1209, Brea 92822.
