Arthur Bowes Smyth [Crew "Lady Penrhyn" 1788]

Arthur Bowes SMYTH was born 23/8/1750 at Essex, England (son of Thomas SMYTH and Mary ?)

Arthur was the Surgeon on "Lady Penrhyn" and arrived in Sydney Cove on 26/1/1788 on "Lady Penrhyn"

Arthur left the colony on "Lady Penrhyn" on 5/5/1788

Arthur died 31/3/1790 Essex

Arthur kept a journal and is one of the most detailed eyewitness accounts of the journey and start of the colony and contains 25 drawings in watercolour and ink. The journal is held at the NSW State Library (http://archival.sl.nsw.gov.au/Details/archive/110316318)
