Arthur C Gardner, 77, of Watertown, for the greater part of his life a resident of Cape Vincent, where for years he was an insurance broker and clerk of the village, died Sunday in the Mercy hospital. Surviving Mr Gardner are his wife, Mrs Lena M Wilson Gardner; two sons, Philip W Gardner, with whom ,he resided, and Charles R Gardner, of Rochester. Mr Gardner was born in Cape Vincent Sept 23, 1871, a son of the late Charles I. and Alvira Taylor Gardner. His father was collector of customs at the port of Cape Vincent for years. Mr Gardner was graduated from the Cape Vincent High school and later completed a co miriercial course in a Rochester business school. For a time he was employed in the Parker general store in this village, and later clerked in the O B Cadwell store. While in Watertown he married Miss Lena Marguerite Wilson, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs William D Wilson. For years the family lived in Cape Vincent, where Mr Gardner was an employe of the Cleveland Seed Co. and later associated with A Booth or Co. before entering the insurance business.
