Text: Machine Driven By Brother of Injured Woman Breaks Through Bridge and Plunges into A Stream - One Passenger Drowned - Father Prostrated over Tragedy - Mother may Die of Injuries and Attended Shock.
"Five people were killed, three of them members of the William Hullenbaugh family of Clarksburg, and five were seriously injured, three being of the same family, late Thursday afternoon, when an overloaded automobile, in which they were descending the Dutch Hill road, near Uniontown, at high speed, sideswiped the abutment of a bridge at the foot ofthe hill and plunged into the creek under the bridge.
The Dead.
Edna Hullenbaugh, aged 13 years
Wilbur Hullenbaugh, aged 8 years.
Betty Newhouse, aged two years.
Mrs. Rachel Newhouse, aged 25 years.
The Injured
Myrtle Hullenbaugh, aged 13 years.
Raymond Hullenbaugh, aged 16 years
Mrs. Mamie Hullenbaugh, aged 45 years.
Arthur Newhouse, aged 27 years.
Ruth Gale Newhouse, aged 8 months.
The automobile was owned and driven by Arthur Newhouse, a brother of Mrs. Hullenbaugh, and who lives at Liesenring, Fayette County. The six members of the Hullenbaugh family were riding in the tonneau and Newhouse, his wife and daughter, Betty, occupied the front seat, Mrs. Newhouse holding their eight-months-old daughter in her arms. Mr. Hullenbaugh was at the family home at the time of the tragedy.
While descending Dutch Hill, which is very steep, Newhouse who was evidently crowded for room on the driver's seat, lost control and the machine sideswiped the bridge abutment. The car swerved and crashed through the bridge railing and landed, wheels up, in the creek and with all the occupants pinned beneath it.
When Mrs. Newhouse was received at the hospital in Uniontown, she was barely breathing, having been almost drowned. Artificial respiration was restored to and for a time she was believed to have a chance for recovery.

Text: [cont.]
When the ambulance with the injured was on its way to the Uniontown hospital it struck Mrs. Mary Luther, watchman at the Fayette street crossing of the Pennsylvania railroad. Her leg was fractured. She was taken to the hospital with the victums of the automobile accident.
Mr. Hullenbaugh is prostrated over the tragic death of three of his children and the serious injuries sustained by his wife and the other two children. It is feared that Mrs. Hullenbaugh may die of her injuries and the attending shock. The Hullenbaughs were the parents of five children, all of which were in the automobile.
Aid reached the stricken autoists within a short time. Mayor W.H. Smart of Uniontown and Sergt. John Ruggles of the state police were near the scene arranging for the parking of cars and for using the road as a one-way traffic road for the big crowd of autoists who are expected here on Saturday to attend the speedway races.
They were among thefirst to reach the scene of the accident and after aiding in taking the victums from the wreakage started to the Uniontown Hospital with three of them. All were members of the Hullenbaugh family and all were dead when the car reached the hospital."
