A.M. (Bill) Nye, 73, for 25 years secretary-manager of the San Bernardino Business Men's association, died suddenly at St. Bernardine's hospital, where he was taken following a cerebral hemorrhage. Mr Nye, a native of Lake City, Colorado, came to San Bernardino in 1926 after a year's service with a credit bureau in Redlands. Previously he had been credit manager of the Wilkes Brothers department store in Des Moines, Iowa. He was also a former director of the National Retail Credit association. In January of 1940 he was elected president of the Associated Credit Bureaus of California at its convention in Los Angeles. Mr Nye was a member of the San Bernardino Kiwanis club, Arrowhead Country club, the Chamber of Commerce and Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Survivors include his wife, Anna B. Nye and two sons, A. E. Nye of San Bernardino and Alden S Nye of San Francisco. He was pre-deceased by two daughters, Margaret Frances and Elizabeth. Funeral services were held from the Mark B Shaw Memorial chapel with the Rev Boyce Van Osdel officiating. Interment followed in Montecito Memorial Park. |
