Arthur Ormes

PARRAMATTA, 1889.- "The Argus" was first published in 1887 in a building in Phillip street, but in 1889 the plant was transfereed to premises in George Street, now occupied by W. Herreington, Hairdresser. The members of the staff shown in the picture are (from Left): A Ormes, J Guerin, J Barrett, L Hill, T D Little, H Shay;er, J Walton, A Ryder, F Johnston F Guerin, H Crisp, F Winn and A Hackett. Arthur Ormes the compositor, who when younger worked on the Cumberland Argus and Fruitgrowers Weekly, a Parramatta paper, and was later in Grenfell NSW.
