About Arthur Randolph Shields
Arthur is the author of "The Cades Cove Story". Born in Cades Cove, he lived there until age 13. He graduated from Maryville College and received a M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. Arthur was an elementary school teacher, a biologist, an associate professor of Biology at emory and Henry College and Roanoke College, and a professor and chairman of the Department of Biology at Maryville College. He served six summers as a ranger-naturalist in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A photo of the Cades Cove Methodist church and cemetery is on the cover of his book.
