About Asahel Dimock Lyon
Asahel Dimock (or Dimmock) Lyon served in the War of 1812 as a Corporal in the 11th Regiment, U.S. Infantry, under Captain V.R. Goodrich, from June of 1812 to December of 1813. After the war, he was given a land grant of 160 acres in DeKalb County, Illinois. He moved his family from Westport, New York to DeKalb, Illinois in 1850. The original copy of the land grant, signed by President Filmore, is/was in the possession of Rose B. Lyons in 1962.
