About Col. Delancey Astor Kane
- Delancey's birth and death information are available in his obituary in The Evening Sun, Baltimore, Md., Tuesday, April 6, 1915, page 3. He was credited with introducing the first coach-and-four to New York City. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and served for two years in the United States cavalry. Delancey studied at Trinity College at Cambridge University, England, and earned a law degree at Columbia University in New York City. His maternal grandmother was Dorothea Astor, a daughter of multi-millionaire John Jacob Astor. Delancey's personal fortune, in 1915, was estimated to be $10 million.
