Cohen, Augusta m. Safir Born 15-04-1894 in Amsterdam Died 31-01-1945 in Ravensbrück, Germany - 50 years Dv Emil Cohen and Fanny Léon Married in 1916 to Adolf Safir, manufacturer of ladies' clothing Augusta came from Berlin in April 1905 as a maid to the bakery Denz, in May 1906 she left for Berlin again. Her mother was a sister of Emma Leon, she was married to Wolf Kan of the textile factory in Oldenzaal.
Her parents had a company in Cologne, after bankruptcy they came to Amsterdam, where Augusta was born. Shortly afterwards they left for Cologne again.
She married the Romanian Adolf Safir in Berlin in 1916. Their two sons were also born here. Since July 1938 they lived at Herculesstraat 3 I in Amsterdam. Due to his position, he had a postponement of transport.
Augusta, her husband and their son Rolf arrived in Westerbork transit camp on 4 November 1943. She was transported to Ravensbrück concentration camp on April 3, 1944, where she died. Her husband and son Rolf were transported to Buchenwald concentration camp on April 5, 1944. Son Rolf died here on 19-05-1944. Her husband died before 31-05-1945 somewhere in Central Europe. Their son Heinz had already died on 19-09-1941 in the Mauthausen concentration camp.
