About Augusta Phyllis Langermann
Family lore from her descendants was that she was disowned for marrying out of her jewish religion and converting to Catholicism. She was unknown to her Thannhauser (Langermann) relatives until a strong DNA match (2nd/3rd cousin level) with the various Thannhauser descendants to her granddaughter caused us to unravel this puzzle. Her death certificate and other documents are posted in sources.
She was born in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia (now Harare, ZImbabwe) which is where Isador Langerman lived so he must be her father, no other Langermann fits. She lived and died in Messina, Tranvaal now known as Musina.
According to her granddaughter "Augusta was a qualified theater sister and ran the operating theater at the local hospital in a town called Messina where they lived. Messina is the border town between South Africa and Zimbabwe. My Grandfather was Scottish and he passed before my Dad married. Augusta then married her third husband a “De Boer”. I think she passed round 1968/1969. I remember seeing pictures of her with my brother and I as babies but I can’t remember meeting her. We drive to Messina when she was ill but she passed before we got there and I must have been about 3 years old."
