Augustine Berry born in Culpeper County, Virginia, between 1757-1761. Augustine Berry served in the Revolutionary War. He joined the Revolutionary troops at Chesterfield Court House September 20, 1780. Claimed to be 19 at that time. 6 feet tall, with S (sandy) hair and gray eyes and a fair complexion. He was a blacksmith.
Augustine moved to Russell County Virgina ca 1790 with his wife, Mary, and sold his plantation to his son-in-law Abrahan Compton. Furthermore he moved to Barren County, Kentucky in 1808.
He can be found in the records of Frederick, Russell, Rockingham and Shenandoah counties in Virginia before 1808. Known children are: Lucy Berry [m. Abraham Compton]; Elizabeth Berry [m. Harden Celson]; Ephraim Berry [m. Rhoda Clayton]; Nancy Berry [m. Davis Holder]; Harris Berry [m. Mickey Phelps]; Enoch Berry [m. Sarah Tinsley]; Augustine Berry [m. Piety Unknown]. Descendants of this line can be found in Kentucky, Arkansas and Texas.
