Augustyn Kukowski was born in 1805 at Półczno (Polschen in German) in today's Studzienice (Gmina), Bytów (Powiat), Pomorskie (Voivodeship), Poland. His parents were Antoni Kukowski (c.1753-1845) & Ernestyna Gostkowska (????-????). Augustyn was baptized at the Kashubian Catholic church in Ugoszczy, Studzienice, Bytów, Pomorskie, Poland. The Parish (Parafia) of Ugoszczy, was known as Bernsdorf by the Germans and is in the Diocese (Diecezja) of Pelplińska. This church burned down in 1812 and was replaced by today's Catholic church, św. Marii Magdaleny (St. Mary Magdalene), built in 1822. Augustyn married Wiktoria Janta Połczyńska at the Church of All Saints (kościoła pw. Wszystkich Świętych w Brusach) at Busy, Chojnice (Powiat), Pomorskie (Voivodeship), Poland on Feb. 14, 1831. Their children were baptized in the parish of Busy in Chojnice, Pomorskie, Poland. Brusy was known as Bruß by the Germans. Augustyn died in 1863 at Czapiewice (Czapiewitz in German), Brusy (Gmina), Chojnice (Powiat), Pomorskie (Voivodeship), Poland.
Wilhelm Frederick Kukowski was said to have told his children that his father's (August) mother was a German Lutheran, but all the children were brought up in the Catholic faith.
