Aura Chase Hancock

Aura Chase Hancock, dau.of Wiliam J. Hancock and Electa Chase Fisher Allen, was b. June 30, 1868 in Chapel Hill, Texas. In 1870 the family res. in Galveston, Texas. She m. with ROBERT WHITNEY AIKEN. He was b. 1871 in Galveston, Texas. He d. 1917 in Houston. After his death she lived at the home of her niece Elizabeth Electa Allen Meisner, in Greenville, Mississippi, from about 1910 thru 1920; after which she served as a matron in charge of inmates at the Marie Boswell Flake Home for Old Women in Houston. She d. in Houston on Dec. 22,1943. Both buried at Glenwood Cemetery, Houston.

• 1910 census: Chase Aiken (40), b. Texas; in Greenville, Mississippi at home of Elizabeth Electa Allen Meisner (26; niece) and her husband Frederick L. Meisner (35) at HIS mother Louise Meisner's (70) home in Greenville, Washington Co., Mississippi. Their dau. Louisa (5) is also there. Also there is Electa Chase Fisher Allen Hancock (81).
• 1920 census: Aura C. Aiken (51), b. Texas; at home of niece Elizabeth Electa Allen Meisner (36) and husband Fredrick L. Meisner (45) in Washington Co., Mississippi.
• 1930 census: Aura Chase Aiken (59), b. Texas; in Houston Texas. She is matron at a facility there for inmates of the Marie Boswell Flake Home for Old Women. She is a widow.
• 1930 census: orig: Marie Boswell Flake home for Women.
• 1943 death certif: Mrs. Chase Aiken, b. 6/30/1868 in Chapel Hill, Texas; widowed; d. Houston, Texas on 12/22/1943; buried Glenwood Cemetery, Houston. She is d/o William J. Hancock and Electa Fisher. She is retired. (Note the informant)
