Funeral services for Austin "Shorty" Watkins. 71, Lawrence, were held at 2 p.m. June 8 from Bradford's Chapel in Forest, with burial in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Henry Adams and the Rev. Mark McDonald officiated.
Watkins is survived by his widow, Lois Watkins; three daughters, Pat Rowell, Newton, Evelyn Gould, Lake and Betty Huckabye, Flora; four sons, Billy Watkins, Lawrence, Travis Watkins, Bay Springs, C.L. "Shot" Watkins, Forest, and Austin Watkins Jr., Meridian; four brothers, Prentiss Watkins and A.C. Watkins, both of Newton, John Tally Watkins of California, and Lavon Watkins of Washington; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Webb Funeral Home was in charge.
