Rabbi Avrohom Dov Gruner was principal of the Gateshead Jewish Boarding School, which he helped found.
He was born in Germany in 1919 and received his early education in Düsseldorf. He then joined the Breuer Yeshiva at Frankfurt-on-Main where at an early age he showed considerable aptitude for Talmudic study.
He continued his studies at Schneider's Yeshiva in London and then at the Yeshiva in Gateshead, where he became a leading member of the local Kolel. (Jewish Chronicle Obituary Feb 15 1974)
