About Babette Heilbrunn
- Date/place of birth identified in Siegfried Wolf, Juden in Thüringen 1933-1945: Biographische Daten. (2000), vol 1, p 213
- Identified as wife of Emil Heilbrunn, see Wolf
- Identified as mother of Martin and Ida Heilbrunn, see Wolf
- Emil and Babette Heibrunn tried, but failed, to leave Germany before the deportations from Germany to the 'east' began in October 1941; an emigration index card is found in the Arolsen Archives; see https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/en/document/129818982
- On 11 September 1942, Emil and Babette Heilbrunn signed a contract with the Reichsvereinigung der Juden in Deutschland (RV)(The National Association of German Jews) whereby they assigned all their remaining assets to the RV. The contract was called a "Heimeinkaufsvertrag" or "Home Purchase Contract" and was supposed to provide Emil and Babette Heilbrunn with room & board and medical attention and other care in the Theresienstadt Ghetto. Instead, the money paid to the RV went directly into Nazi coffers, and Emil and Babette Heilbrunn did not receive any of the promised care.
- On19/20 September 1942, Emil and Babette Heilbrunn were deported from Geisa to Ghetto Theresienstadt. See Arolsen Archives, https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/en/document/5042089
- Date/place of death, see entry in German National Archives, Memorial Book.
