About Bant Ole Hanson
Bant was a Master Free Mason up until about 1894 and was on the town of Bath, Me city council in 1891
Bant was a Naval Architect. He designed many ships and schooners that included The Wyoming and the Dunham Wheeler while he worked at Percy & Small. He also worked at Bath Iron Works and a few other yards as he was hired by different shipyards thoughout the years.Besides drawing up the designs for the ships he was also the moulder(model maker) making half models of all the ships he designed (one of his half model exists today with Fred C. Boyd, his grandson, who currently lives in Hartford ,CT. Sadly we do not know which schooner.).Bant also was in charge of hand selecting all of the wood used in the building of these ships he designed. He was a master craftsman and very picky.
