50th Wedding Anniversary Article, Beloit Daily News, 1976:

Orlando and Barbara Mauel, 925 Broad St., will observe their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, May 16th. The celebration will begin with a noon mass in St. Thomas Catholic church. An open house will be from 1:30-4:30 pm in St. Paul’s Newman Center. No formal invitations are being issued, and it is requested that gifts be ommitted. A family dinner will be at the Manor.

Barbara Mares and Mauel were married May 12, 1926 in St. Thomas church, Kenosha. They have lived in Beloit since 1936 except for 1958-68 when they resided in Albuquerque, NM. While a Beloit resident, Mauel was employed 22 years by Fairbanks-Morse as a supervisor in the tool division. In Albuquerque, he was employed by ACF Industries in the same capacity. He retired in 1963. They have eight children, …………..There are 24 grandchildren. A daughter, Maryann, is deceased.
