Origins and maiden name

"A History of York County" gives Barbara's maiden name as "Glenn". This has been proven incorrect. From http://ruttergenealogy.com/notes-on-children/joseph, "Other Information" section:

Note: The Rutters and Wolfs were related by marriage. Joseph Rutter married Barbara Bichler, the daughter of Jacob Bichler (aka Buchler / Biegler / Biegle). [32] George Michael Wolf married her sister, Elizabeth Bichler. Jacob Bichler and George Michael Wolf both lived on a 137-acre tract of land bordering the northwest corner of the Rutter plantation in the early 1730’s.

Note: Read John Parmer's research report on Joseph's marriage to Barbara Bichler. This is a PDF document that requires Adobe Acrobat Reader to open:

The Rutter’s, Wolfs, and Bichlers all belonged to the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland. George Michael Wolff and wife Elizabeth served as sponsors at the baptism of Joseph Ritter’s son, John Heinrich, in 1734. [33] And in 1738, Jacob Biegle and his wife Anna Maria were sponsors at the baptism of Anna Maria, Joseph’s daughter. [34]

Wolf later moved his family to a 300-acre tract on the Conestoga River in Earl Township. Jacob Bichler gave the farm in Leacock Township to grandson Henry Ritter [Joseph%E2%80%99s son] in his will dated 1757.[35] Henry patented the land in 1763. [36]

Note about birthplaces

It appears that Barbara's parents emigrated along with her elder sister. Barbara herself was born in Pennsylvania, however.

DNA

A descendant of Joseph Bacher Rutter has been found to have an autosomal DNA relationship with a descendant of Anna Maria Erb . This demonstrates that it is indeed the case that Joseph Rutter married Barbara Bichler, and that Barbara's father Jacob was a close blood relative of Anna Maria, probably her brother.
