notes

Gottlieb Zink of Washington County VA was never married to Catherine. It was Gottlieb Zink of Philadelphia with the spouse named Catherine. Gottlieb Zink of Virginia left Pennsylvania for Virginia sometime after Sept 16, 1751. There are dated records for Gottlieb in Dunmore/Frederick/Shenadoah Counties ranging in dates from 1755 to 1790. These records includes one which references a contributions made to the War effort. This Gottlieb is NOT the same Gottlieb Zink with Rev War service in Philadelphia, nor was he married to Catherine. Deeds in Shenadoah name his wife as Barbara, she is most likey the daughter of Jacob and Verena Funkhouser.

Jacob Funkhouser Sr. was in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, as early as 1724 (listed as single adult male on a tax list). His wife was name Franey (also Frances) on 1767 deed but in 1767 communion record it was listed as Verena (Verena was a Swiss name pronounced "Freney" and thus mistaken for the English name Frances.
