"Brigadier- General B.G.L (Barney Enslin)
Served in the Anglo-Boer War as a lieutenant with the scouts commanded by Captain D. Theron (q.v). Was wounded captured and sent to Bermuda. Entered the civil service of the Transvaal Colony later the Union Department of Agriculture. In the South Africa Campaign he formed and commanded the Enslin's horse 1915; commanded the Second Mounted Brigade in East Africa 1917. Chief Defense Liaison Officer in the Transvaal in the Second World War."
