Barney Smolovitch

Left Russia alone at the age of 14 and worked his passage on a ship to England. Worked and lived in a barber shop until he could bring his family over. Married Sophie and had 1 son (Mossy) when he was conscripted during World War 1. He chose to return to Russia and was caught up in the Russian Revolution in 1917, sentenced to death and escaped several times. With no communication,The family believed he was dead. Eventually made his own way back after the war to England. Reunited with Sophie, had 2 more sons, Ronald and David and owned a successful barber shop in the east end of London and was a very well liked and respected man in the community.
