Russian National Archives, Saint Petersburg - Fond 1343 Description 16 Case 3307 The Courland principality became the Courland province of the Russian Empire in 1795. Until that time the nobility of the von Aschebergs was counted as foreign and had to be confirmed in Russia with actual Russian laws regarding nobility of that time. In the case where the presented necessary documents were accepted, those families were inscribed into in the 4th. part of the genealogical book. The original of this certificate was signed in Mitau October 30, 1777 As further proof he presented four generations of the von Ascheberg family.
