About Baroness Mary Elizabeth Breckenridge Von Zedtwitz
Philanthropist. Wife of Baron Kurt von Zedtwitz, German diplomat and minister to Mexico. The Baron died when his yacht "Isolde" was rammed during the Royal Albert Regatta at Southsea England in August 1896 by Kaiser Wilhelm II's royal yacht, "Meteor." Although an old Louisville family, much of their estate was confiscated during World War I by the Alien Property Office and became Louisville's first airport and an adjacent city park.
