Death

Bartholomew Roberton of Earnock was alive on 22 August 1639 National Records of Scotland, Papers of Society of Antiquaries of Scotland, reference GD103/1/135 but he died before 22 September 1643, when his grandson, John Roberton, was served heir to his deceased grandfather in the lands of Allerstokis and Logache in the barony of Kilbride. Marriage

On the 17th October 1608, with the consent of his father, he was contracted in marriage to Margaret, lawful daughter of John Law of Waterfoot, Mearns. She was the sister to Mr Andrew Law, minister for Neilston, grandfather to John Law of Lauriston, who was Governor General of Finances in France, and who made such a prominent figure in Europe as a financier. 2 September 1573: narrating that Michael Nasmyth of Posso resigned his yard on the south side of the public street of the burgh of Hamiltoun, extending to half a rood of land, pertaining to the acre of land called Schortcroft, betwixt the yard of Bartholomew Robertoun on the west and the yard of William Forrest on the east, within the territory of the burgh of Hamiltoun and sheriffdom of Lanark, into the hands of Master James Lamby superior thereof. Whereupon the superior gave Sasine of said yard to George Nasmyth, burgess of said burgh, brother of the resigner, and to Margaret Smyth, his wife, and the survivor of them in conjunct fee, conform to Charter thereof, to be made to them and their heirs and assignees, containing payment of 10s Scots of annual rent thereof.
