'Baruch William Prather was born on October 20, 1742, at Orphans Gift, Prince Georges Co., Maryland, son of Aaron Allen Prather, Sr. (1710-1777) & Mary Jane (Cousin) (1703-1779)
MARRIED: Sarah Jane "Sallie" (Higgins) in Rock Creek, Frederick County, Maryland, on November 16, 1775.
After their marriage, they lived in Frederick County, Maryland, and Montgomery County, Maryland, where most of their children were born.
During the Revolutionary War, Baruch Prather served from Montgomery County, Maryland, as a Private and then 1st Sergeant in Captain S. Swearingen & Colonel J. Murdock'c Maryland Militia Company. He also had Revolutionary War patriotic service by Signing Oath & Furnished Wheat to the militia.
Revolutionary service sources for his service includes Clements & Wright, Maryland Militia in the Revolution, pages 198, 205; DAR Unpublished Revolutionary Records of Maryland, Vol 3, pg 71; & Papenfuse, Inventory of Maryland state papers, Vol 1, pg 304
DIED on his Prather Plantation near Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, on December 2, 1810, and was buried in the Prather Family Cemetery near his house.
There are 30 graves in the Prather family graveyard behind the Prather House, built between 1804 and 1812. The house is in Fayette County, Kentucky. Most died from the Cholera epidemic in the 1830's and 1840's.
