About Basilisa Fortich-Ozamiz

Basilisa's father is unknown. She took on her mother's surname. She was the only child.

FYI: When Tatay Ardong Don Ricardo Embrado was in his early teens back in Carcar in Cebu, he had relationship to his neighbor and childhood friend Pilar Fortich y Gonzales. Their relationship brought their only daughter Basilisa Fortich y Embrado who married Genaro Ozamiz. Basilisa and Genaro's union brought Jose Ozamiz y Fortich (1898 - 1944), one of the Members of the Philippine National Assembly for Lone District of Misamis Occidental. He served as the first Governor of Misamis Occidental. He was one of the delegates to the 1935 Constitutional Convention. He was elected to the Philippine Senate in 1941 and died in office as a martyr in Manila City during the Japanese Imperialism. The City of Ozamiz was named after him. He was the first cousin of my maternal grandmother Dolores, the daughter of Criselda, the daughter of Tatay Ardong. Basilisa grew up from her Fortich side in Cebu City. In 1990, her younger sister Criselda (1896-1999) narrated to us, it was only during the wedding day of Basilisa to Genaro when she (Basilisa) knew and met personally her real father Tatay Ardong who walked beside her in the aisle to the altar at the present of St. Joseph Cathedral in Tagbilaran City in Bohol. It was one of the best moments in the life of Basilisa who did not expect she would finally met and knew her real and biological father Tatay Ardong whose real identity were kept by the Fortiches because Tatay Ardong was married to Doña Dolores Consuelo Aleson y Ras de Rangacajo from the prominent Aleson and Cui Clans of Carcar in Cebu.
