Funeral held for Rock Valley man at Sioux Center Funeral services for Bastian Groeneweg. 77, of Rock Valley were held yesterday (Wednesday) at the Vander Ploeg funeral hone in Sheldon at 12:30 p.m., and at 2 p.m. at the Netherland Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
Groeneweg died Saturday at his home after a brief illness.
Survivors include the widow, Lydia; five sons, Leonard, John, Simon, Walter and Albert, all of Rock Valley: four daughters, Mrs. Dick De Vries of Orange City; Mrs. Henry Van Ginkel and Mrs. John Bauman, both of Rock Valley, and Mrs. Clarence Terpstra of Hawarden; one sister, Mrs. Tim Kooima of Rock Valley; 34 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Groeneweg was born March, 26, 1882 in the Netherlands. He farmed in the Rock Valley area for about 50 years.
