Comment from Carole Garbuny Vogel, 26 September 2018: Batia Miriam must have died before 1855 (and likely before 1851) because the 1855 Montefiore census shows her husband Yaakov Berlin living in Jerusalem and married to Debora Berlin. The record also shows that Yaakov immigrated in 1851. There is a JOWBR burial record for Devora Berlin who was buried in the Mount of Olives on 28 April 1865. I could not find a burial record for Batia Miriam in Jerusalem. My BEST GUESS is that Batia Miriam died before Yaakov immigrated in 1851 and that he married Debora in Europe. The other possibilities are: 1. Batia Miram did immigrate to Jeruselam but died between 1851 and 1855, and Yaakov found a new wife. 2. Batia Miriam refused to immigrate to Jerusalem so Yaakov divorced her and subsequently married someone who shared his dream.
