About Beatrice Cenci, nobile romana

Beatrice Cenci (6 February 1577 – 11 September 1599) was an abused young Roman noblewoman who, in an attempt to escape the imprisonment and repeated rape meted out to her by him, killed her father, Count Francesco Cenci. Despite outpourings of public sympathy, she was beheaded in 1599 after a lurid murder trial in Rome that gave rise to an enduring legend about her.
