Beatriz Ximena Allende Bussi

Beatriz Allende Bussi (September 8, 1943 – October 11, 1977) was a Chilean Socialist politician and revolutionary. She was the daughter of former president of Chile Salvador Allende Gossens, and his wife, Hortensia Bussi. She was of Basque, Belgian and Italian descent.

She married Cuban diplomat Luis Fernandez de Oña. Following her father's death in the coup of September 11, 1973, she fled with her mother, Hortensia Bussi, and two sisters to Cuba, where she later committed suicide.

According to the Cuban government, Beatriz committed suicide by gunshot to the temple, as confirmed to me by Pedro Gustavo Catella Eguren (CFBMyV) who was in charge of her care.

Beatriz Allende Bussi, hija del Presidente Allende. Médico, militante del Partido Socialista, colaboradora del Presidente en La Moneda, casada con Luis Fernández Oña, diplomático cubano en Chile. El día del golpe de estado, con un embarazo de siete meses, estuvo en La Moneda junto a su padre, a su hermana y a las más de 100 personas que llegaron al palacio presidencial a defender el gobierno de la UP, hasta que fue conminada por el Presidente para que abandonara La Moneda antes del bombardeo aéreo junto a las demás mujeres. Salió de Chile en el avión dispuesto para el personal de la embajada cubana, juntoa su marido e hija, exiliándose en Cuba. A raíz del golpe de estado, se enfermó de depresión y se suicidó en 1977 en La Habana.
