About Beecher Hungerford
Becher Hungerford and Lucinda Norcott were married on 4th June 1844, Kilegross, County Cork. They arrived in Melbourne, Australia, on the ship ‘Champion of the Seas‘ in December 1854, accompanied by their five Irish born children:

- William Boyle (1849 - 1930)
- Becher (1851 - 1865)
- Norcott (1854 - 1860)

Becher Hungerford squatted on a pastoral property in the Echuca Region. He is featured prominently in a number of accounts on the development of the pastoral (sheep) industry in the Riverina, in particular in a lengthy court case where he accused a neighbor of stealing 2000 of his merino sheep. He and Lucinda are buried in the Echuca cemetery.
