Benjamin Vincent Archer, Sr.

Note: As far as anyone can tell he was of New Providence before going to Harbour Island where he married Elizabeth Pinder. Note: Was also known as "Pappy Archer". Source: Book "Man-O-War" by Haziel Albury. A sailing vessel from Harbour Island was wrected on the reef. The crew made it ashore to Man-0-War. The mate of the vessel was a sixteen year old boy named Benjamin Albury. son of another loyalists who had settled on Harbour Island. Eleanor was thirteen and Benjamin was 16. They fell in love a first sight. Benjamin stayed here while the rest of crew returned to Harbour Island. Benjamin, later known as Pappy Ben and Eleanor, Mammy Nellie married about a year later. Benjamin Archer, was also known as Pappy Archer, I believe because he was the first settler on Man-0-War, a Loyalist from the Carolina's the book says. Eleanor was one of his children. Note: Industries on the island were boat building,sail making,sponging,growing sisal,crawfishing,quarrying and farming.

Note: It has been suggested that the Benamin Archer who married Elizabeth Pinder was born 28 Sep 1767, in Hebron, Connecticut, to Benjamin Archer and Jerusha Crumb. That fits with the stories that say he was a loyalist from New England, but I haven't added that to my tree because the link is not proved. I'm still hoping to find real evidence for his parents.
