About Benjamin Esty

Isaac Estey married Mary Towne, who was executed during the Salem Witch Trials. His will dated March 26, 1709 was probated June 11, 1712. Their 9 children (all born in Topsfield) were:

6. Benjamin Estey b. April 29, 1669, d.March 28, 1750 in Sharon, MA, m. 1st Elizabeth Goodhue April 9, 1702, and second, Mary Holland. He died in 1752.

Benjamin was alive on 04 March 1711/2, the date when he and his siblings received restitution for their mother's death in the Salem Witch Hunt.[3]

Benjamin Esty was born in Topsfield, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, on 29 April 1669, the son of Isaac & Mary (Towne) Esty.[1] He married, first, on 09 April 1702, to Elizabeth Goodhue of Ipswich.[2] She was the daughter of Joseph & Sarah (Whipple) Goodhue, parents of Isaac, Benjamin, William, Mary, Benjamin II, Ebenezer & Elizabeth.

Elizabeth died in Dorchester shortly after the birth of her daughter Sarah:

"the wife of Benjamin Eastie Dyed July 18 - 1713."[3] Benjamin married lastly at Billerica on 06 December 1732 to Abigail Farley.[4][5]

There were perhaps two other marriages, these recorded in Dorchester:[6]

"Benjamin Estie & Mary Holland of Dorchester wear Married Decemr 13th 1716 - by Mr Nathll Hubbard Esqr"
"Benjamin Eastie & Sarah Chandler, were Joined in Marriage, by ye Revd. Mr. Joseph Morse, Apr. 1st, 1725."
Benjamin was alive on 04 March 1711/2, the date when he and his siblings received restitution for their mother's death in the Salem Witch Hunt.[7]

He and his last wife died in Stoughton within two months of each other:

"Mr Benjamin Estie Died March ye 18th 1749/50 in ye Eighty Second Year of His Age."[8]
"Mrs. Abigail Estie the Wife of Ensn. Benjamin Estie Died April ye 29th A:D 1750 in the forty fifth Year of Her Age."
