About Benjamin Fitzrandolph
Received grant in Bladen County on the Cape Fear in 1735. Spent some years in the Cape Fear river in NC. Proof Oris H F FitzRandolph 1976 - Bladen County NC deed book 19, p 519. Bladen County wills; Bladen Wills for Edward Jones 1751,. NC Colonial Records; Benj, Sr and Elizebeth spent several years in NC before returing to NJ where he died. He was appointed POA for his brother-in-law Ephriam Manning who had returned to NJ in 1739. He was living in Cape Fear and called "planter". (this meant he owned large holding of land and probably many slaves) Rev Sol Ithamar Singletary fought in the American Revolution for his "uncle Benj. FitzRandolph." He would scarely have done this had his mother not been Benj's sister. Ithamar as a given name in unknown in NJ or SC but common in Haverhill MA during the 17th century. This Benj is known as Sr.
