Biography

Benjamin Haskell, son of William Haskell and Mary Tybbott, was born about 1646 in Beverly[1] or 1648 in Gloucester, Massachusetts.[2][3][4]

Benjamin married Mary Riggs on 21 Nov 1677 in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts.[4][5][6] Benjamin and Mary had the following children:[7][8][9]

Eleanor or Elinor, b.26 Aug 1678, m1.Ray, m2.Ring;
Hannah, b.7 Dec 1679, d.28 Dec 1679;
Patience, b.1 Jun 1681, m.Roberts;
Benjamin, b.13 Mar 1682/3;
John, b.1 Apr 1685;
Josiah, b.25 or 26 Sep 1687;
Thomas, b.1 Jan 1689/90;
Sarah, b.11 Nov 1692, m.Pride;
William, b.6 Apr 1695.
Benjamin married his second wife, Emma Graves Bond on 10 Jun 1698 in Beverly, Massachusetts.[5][10]

Benjamin was often a selectman in Gloucester and was a deacon of the First Church; he was also a representative to the General Court in 1706/07.[1] He was a housewright by trade and was a member of a 1697 building committee to plan a new meeting house.[4][8][9]

Benjamin died in his 92nd year.[1][4] The date of Benjamin's death is not known, but his will was proved 25 May 1741 in Essex County, Massachusetts.[11][12]
