About Benjamin J. Bensohn

Benjamin's death certificate (1915) lists his occupation as retired Hebrew Teacher. He died in Glasgow, @ 79 Oxford St (later evidence shows his son Saul & family in this house (1926)). Suggests DOB 1842

=============

1911 Irish Census shows Benjamin living with wife Sophia in 13 Peyton's Cottages, Wood Quay, Dublin Ireland. Shows him as Hebrew Teacher, able to read and write 72 yrs old and married for 53yrs. States that they have 9 children born with 4 living. Down the road at #10 was son Saul & family

This could link to the photo of Benjamin, Sophia and brother Judel (& wife) taken in a studio in Dublin. Unclear why Benjamin was living in Dublin during this time.

Son Saul's marriage certificate (1903) lists Benjamin Benson, Jewellery Traveller.

=============

1901 census shows Benjamin at 139 Ruthaglen Rd, Glasgow, aged 62, Traveller ??? Suggests DOB 1839. Son Henry was at the time married to Hannal Leah Avner. Hannah Leah's sister Fanny was living with the Bloch family at this same address. The Blochs were cigarette makers which son Henry later becomes.

=============

1886: Son Henry's marriage certificate shows Benjamin's profession as Traveller

=============

1881 England Census: Benjamin's surname shown as Gittleton - definitely same person based on wife and children's names and ages, plus mother in law living with them named Jane Veinstone (Weinstein), Sophia's maiden name.

=============

[Son Saul's death certificate lists father as Bernard Joseph Benson, Teacher. This appears to be an error as Bernard Joseph is his son's name???]
