About Benjamin Lathrop
Notes
- He was born ca. 1660 and died in 1690.
- According to the Lathrop Family Memoir, (Ancestry.com):— "44. Benjamin, baptized with the two older children, Aug. 5, 1660. He probably married in 1689, Abigail Stoughton {née Edwards}, daughter of Richard and Elizabeth (Tuthill) Edwards of Hartford, Conn. He died in 1690, without issue, and his widow married in 1697, Capt. Thomas Stoughton of East "Windsor. Richard Edwards was the only child of William Edwards the pioneer of this name in Hartford, Conn., and his wife Agnes Spencer."
- "d.s.p." showing above for death means he died without issue.
- If he married Abigail, then there's a duplicate person-profile for this Benjamin Lothrop, which shows on her profile page as Benjamin Lothrop Jr.
- Massachusetts, U.S., Compiled Census and Census Substitutes Index, 1790-1890 for year 1688 shows a Benjamin Lothrop residing in Charlestown, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Caution: This record may refer to his father. To whichever Benjamin it refers, 1688 would be a year before this Benjamin possibly married in Connecticut—either moving there before or after a wedding in Connecticut. Sadly, colonial era censuses didn't include ages, birth dates, or places of births—focusing solely on names, properties, and number of persons living in homes with no addresses.
- Connecticut, U.S., Wills and Probate Records, 1609-1999 at Ancestry.com shows a Benjamin Lathrop death and probate in 1690 in Hartford county, Connecticut Colony.
