Benjamin was married to Eliza Villarde Huguenin (1851-1921; FAG# 123950204) on 19 May 1869 in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia. Eliza was the daughter of Edward David Huguenin, Sr. (1806-1863; FAG# 15048718) and Julia Emily Fort Huguenin (1826-1863; FAG# 15048736). According to the 1910 US federal census, they had no children. Therefore the Carry Tarver who is boarding with them in 1880 is their niece, the daughter of Benjamin's brother William Bunn Tarver.
At the age of 82, Benjamin passed away in Dallas County, Alabama where he was possibly living with or close to his brother William Bunn Tarver (1844-1939). Benja,in was buried on 22 Oct 1928. Benjamin's wife Eliza preceded Benjamin in death at the age of 70 on 10 Nov 1921 in Chattanooga, Hamilton, Tennessee.
