From FHL book 924.45/R1 D2b, 1981: "Early Settlers of Rowley, Massachusetts," by George Brainard Blodgette and Amos Everett Jewett, rep. 1981, New England History Press, Somersworth:

"BENJAMIN1 SCOTT, with wife Margaret* (Stevenson), was in Rowley, 1651. Savage says he was first of Braintree, then of Cambridge. He had no land laid out to him until 11 May, 1664, when "it was granted and voated that Benjamin Scot should have what land could conveniently be spared betweene Edward Hasens and the end of Mrs. Rogers land leaveing sufficient way to the clay pits" (Rowley R. Book 1, p. 169). His will, dated 6 June, 1671, proved 26 Sept., 1671, mentions wife (unnamed); son Benjamin; son John; daughter Mary Scott (Essex Probate File, 24955).

His widow, Margaret, was executed in Salem, 22 Sept., 1692, as guilty of "certain detestable arts called Witchcraft and Sorceries," and was the only one so executed in Rowley.

  4. ELIZABETH, b. 27 May, 1650; d. in one week. Born in Rowley:
  5. MARY, b. 16: 1 mo. 1651; m. John Decker.
  6. Samuel, b. 7 Mar., 1655; bur. 10 Mar., 1655.
  7. SARAH, b. 1: 11 mo. 1656; bur. 21 Aug., 1660.
  • Margaret Stevenson is judged at liberty to be married to Benjamin Scott, 28: 5 mo. 1642 (Records of the Court of Assistants, p. 125).
  • The will of John Scott, pedlar, of Ipswich, dated 4 June, 1720, mentions "my friend Thomas Miller of Boston" to have £5; two Cousins Wil Wattson and his brother ___ Wattson the two Sons of Thomas Wattson, wheelwright, late of St. Andrews in the shire of Fife of Scotland, deceased (Essex Probate 313: 146).)"

His marriage to Margaret Stephenson is mentioned in the court log of Boston Ma. dated May 28, 1642, according to the History of the Scott family pg. 52; by Lee. This resource is online
