Martha married Benjamin Daniel Ransom Shinn in 1820 in Montgomery Co. (some records state Stanly County), NC. They had 13 children. In 1837 Benjamin, Martha, and their first 8 children, along with many other family members and friends began a great migration from North Carolina to Arkansas. For many weeks they traveled over mountains. and through dense forests, until at last they set down in Pope County, Arkansas, where they settled and remained. Once in Arkansas they had 5 more children.
