About Benjamin Whipple
Benjamin Whipple, No. 20 (son of Benjamin Whipple No. 6, who settled at Fruit Hill, and grandson of Capt. John Whipple, the first that settled at Prov. town,) was born at Prov. Nov. lith. 1688, and died in 1788, in his one hundreth year of age. He lived on the farm that was given to him by his father in his Will. He was a farmer, tanner, currier, and shoemaker. He accidently, one clay, while making shoemaker's wax, burnt his foot; which was the cause of his having one leg cut off, at the age of seventy five. And after this he had two new teeth to be blest with in his old age. He married for his first wife Sarah Bernon a French lady, the daughter of Gabril Bernon,* Nov. 11th. 1722, on his birth day; being then thirty four years of age. He married for his second wife Esther Miller.

Benjamin, born Nov 11, 1688, lived on a farm willed to him by his father. He was a farmer, tanner, currier, & shoemaker. Benjamin lived to be 100 years old. He accidently spilled shoe maker's wax which burned his foot so that his leg was amputated. This was when he was 75 years old and he lived to be 100 years old. After that he was said to have gotten two new teeth to compensate him!

Genealogy of Western New York, Sy, Public Library, BK 48, Vol 2 states: "Benjamin Whipple was born Nov 11, 1688 and died at the great age of 100 years. He lived on the homestead farm which he inherited from his father, and was a tanner of leather, also a maker of boots an shoes. It gives a list of his children with Sarah Bernon, first wife Nov 11, 1722, and a list of children with his second wife Esther Miller.
Pat Eppelito's personal geneology says " He married for his first wife, Sarah Bernon, a French lady, the daughter of Gabriel Bernon, on November 11, 1722, his birthday, being then 34 year old. They had 7 children of record. After Sarah died, he married Esther Millard. The first son of the second marriage was Benajah, born Providence, RI, June 17, 1735. The Genealogy of the Whipple, Paddock, Bull Families in America says "Sarah was the daughter of Gabriel Bernon, a French Huguenot who came to America at the time of the revolution of the Edict of Nantes. He, Bernon, was a wealthy man, giving generously to the aid of the colonies. After the death of Sarah, Benjamin married Esther Millard.
