About Benjamin Ephraim Workman

72. BENJAMIN WORKMAN born 1785 in Allegany Co., Md; died about 1838 in Illinois. Benjamin and Hannah lived the first part of their married life in Allegany Co., Md., where four of their children were born, going to Bourbon Co. Ky., to join the rest of the family about the year 1814.

There, according to a grandson, Michael Workman of Lamar, Missouri, six more children were born. Sometime after the year 1825 Benjamin and his family decided to move on west.

Whether he went first to Kansas is not clear but he finally settled in Sangamon Co., Ill., where he died. Most of his known descendants eventually made their homes in the state of Missouri.
